Caroline Green & Michael Parsons: 2020 Free Dance at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships

As the dancers get on the ice, they have a fierce expression on their faces as they prepare themselves for their free dance. These two powerful skaters represent Pavilion Skating Club of Cleveland Heights and Washington Figure Skating Club. They are skating to “Conquest of Spaces” and “I love you” by Woodkid.

The dancers start their program with a lot of passion and energy. Their facial expressions match their body language throughout their choreography. Every step and twizzle, they start their program off with is extraordinary. Their heads move in every direction their bodies gesture towards. Whether that is an arm moving upwards as the head goes up to the ceiling, or that means their head goes down towards the ice as their bodies lean forward. All of their moves are perfectly in sync and match the music effortlessly. This makes their skating even more amazing to watch, as it is essential to have the body move to the beat of every musical note.

Their lifts throughout their program were elegant, and the step sequence was beautiful as their edges were very deep with every rocker and three turn. Although they almost took a fall because Green slipped off her edge, they still quickly got up and kept going to finish a beautiful free skate. Their lines were elegant, as every position was held. Their extensions were beautiful because they were straightened. There was not even a slight knee bend present throughout these positions. Overall, the performance was fantastic to witness because of their emotions being poured into their skating.

They finished their free dance with a total score of 102.83. This put them at 5th place at the end of this event. Their final score is 180.25, which puts them in 5th place overall. The two skaters had a powerful performance and showed their skills and love for the sport through their skating.
