Alysa Lui is the two time national champion in both 2019 and 2020. She is 15 years old and is skating to “The Storm” by Havasi featuring Lisa Gerrard. During this invitational performance, she is representing Team Johnny. She is a phenomenal skater that always puts her best foot forward. She learns from prior mistakes and tries her best to improve continually. She is known for skating a clean program and having a smile on her face throughout. Her skating has improved significantly over the past few years, and everyone is always excited when she is on the ice performing. She recently incorporated a triple axel into the program. This is where the major points are coming from in the program.
She opens the program with a triple axel, and she pops it and turns it into only a single. She did not receive as many points for this as she anticipated because she did not make the rotation happen. After this, she transitioned into her triple lutz. She landed this jump and received almost one bonus point in GOE. Her next jump pass is a double axel, double toe combination. She lands this and receives a bonus of .33 points. She did not use as much knee bend going into her triple loop as needed. She turned this jump into a double. This also did not receive as many points as anticipated since she did not rotate for a triple. She went into a beautiful level 4 flying combination spin and also got an atonal 1.05n in GOE. Lui presented elongated lines during her step sequence that received a level 2 from the judges. The highest level able to be received is level 4. However, she only did a level 2. She received a GOE of .72. The next jump element she completed was a triple klutz, double toe combination. This jump pass was landed beautifully and with ease. She gracefully transitions into a triple flip, half loop, triple salchow. However, she turns the triples into doubles once again. This also lost points. She received .05 in GOE for the element. The next element was also supposed to be a triple flip, but she changed it to a double. The second spin pass she completed is a layback spin that received a level 4 and .99 points in GOE. The final spin in her free skate is a combination spin the received a level 4 and GOE of 1.05.
