It was an unusual NFL season that was played under unusual circumstances, but it concluded with a perfect storybook ending with Tom Brady on top once again. Brady entered the game setting an impressive record 10th Super Bowl appearance and finished with a record 7th Super Bowl win and 5th Super Bowl MVP. With the blowout win over Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes, Brady proved that there is no such thing as “baby goat.” At 43 years old, Brady also continued to prove that age is only a number. Brady also had help as he was reunited with former New England Patriots teammate Rob “The Gronk” Gronkowski, and we’ll get to that later.
Prior to his arrival in Tampa Bay, Brady had spent 20 seasons with New England taking the team to 9 Super Bowls and winning 6 of them. The only two Quarterbacks to beat Brady were Giants QB Eli Manning in Super Bowls 42 and 46, and Eagles QB Nick Foles in Super Bowl 52. Brady’s departure from the Patriots in March 2020 was a shock to many and it was an even bigger shock when it was announced that he would be going to Tampa Bay to play for the Buccaneers. He was also able to convince Gronkowski to come out of retirement and join him in Tampa. Brady and The Gronk won three Super Bowls together while playing for the Patriots. In other words, it was a match made in heaven for Tampa Bay to be able to have both players on their roster heading into the 2020 season. It paid off in the end as the Quarterback/Tight End duo played a big role in helping the Buccaneers win it all.
In addition to his record-breaking 7th win and 5th MVP, Tom Brady hooked up with The Gronk for a 14th touchdown pass and reception in the postseason. That pass set a playoff record for most passing touchdowns to a single receiver from the same quarterback. He also became the only QB to win a Super Bowl in both the AFC and NFC. This win proved that Brady is not just a “system” QB. Brady’s win also erased any remaining doubt as to who the best all-time QB is, and also the best player of any position.
The scary part for the rest of the NFL is that Tom Brady isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon.
