NBA Drip Series: February Dripper of the Month

February has been a month full of incredible Drip within the NBA. This month, I have been looking out for the flyest player and am excited to share with you February’s Dripper of the Month: 2017-2018 MVP and the Brooklyn Nets’ newest addition, James Harden. In the 2009 NBA draft, Harden was chosen (round one, pick three) by the Oklahoma City Thunder and played with them until 2012 when he made his move to the Houston Rockets. Harden played with the Rockets until January 2021 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

It is no surprise that James Harden’s name would be recognized within this NBA Drip series considering that he has been recognized to be one of the best dressed NBA players of all time. This month, in particular, Harden has outdone himself. His fashion sense (and layers) has been required to change slightly in order to comply with the climate change due to the move from Houston to Brooklyn, where he is experiencing his first New York Winter. This trade from Houston to Brooklyn has allowed Harden to play COLDER than ever before and it appears that this trade was for the best not only for him individually, but for the Nets as a team. Here are three ways in which Harden’s icy style correlates to his icy play.

  1. Smooth: Harden has been seen wearing many matching sets that flow well from top to bottom and are very uniform. Similar to this, his gameplay is beyond smooth. For example, Harden comes off a screen and gets into the paint, he is able to score with ease and is very under control.
  2. Crafty: Harden puts together unorthodox outfits that turn out looking appealing. He expresses himself through his outfits as an art and as a result of his crafty outfits, he catches the attention of those around him. Similar to this, while playing basketball, he demonstrates craftsmanship through his ball handling ability and some of the flashy moves that he does throughout the course of the game. Harden is able to express himself artistically through both his outfit choices and his style of play.
  3. Comfortable: Harden makes an effort to create not only stylish and fresh outfits but also gains bonus points for making them comfortable at the same time. He knows how to make sweats look chic and denim look dressy. Similar to this, when Harden is on the court, he displays comfort through his controlled and calm pace. When defenders play him aggressively, he doesn’t crumble under pressure, but instead continues to play under control and make smart plays that put his team in the position to win.
