Steph Curry Drops 46 Points for Second Scoring Title

Steph Curry Drops 46 Points for Second Scoring Title as Warriors Clinched NBA 8th Seed to Cap Sensational Regular Season

via USA TODAY Sports

After a historic season run, Stephen Curry would cap off the 2020-2021 regular season at the top of the NBA scoring charts with an average of 32 points per game.

Chef Curry yet again had the Chase Center sizzling as he dished out 46 points in 40 minutes in Sunday’s 113-101 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, tacking on his second NBA scoring title of his career! Entering the matchup, Curry would only need three to surpass Washington Wizard Bradley Beal (31.3) for the season. And a baseline floater would do it!

Curry was crowned his first scoring title in 2016, where he averaged 31. 8 points per game and was also 28…. not 33.

Curry and Michael Jordan now sit in an elite club of two as the only players in NBA history who have won a scoring title after turning 33 years old. Curry also joined Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in NBA history to win multiple scoring titles, MVPs, and NBA championships.

The PG has undoubtedly been on a tip this season, not only shattering league records, but also that of NBA legends. Curry’s resume this season includes surpassing Wilt Chamberlain to become the Warriors all-time leading scoring, surpassing Reggie Miller on all-time threes made in league history, showcasing 200 or more threes for an NBA-record eighth season, and putting up the most three pointers made in a 3-game span in NBA history in the month of April, a month where someone must have turned Steph’s switch up 10 notches!

Forget April showers, the three-time NBA champion issued full out storms as he flooded arenas with his elite scoring ability. The Warriors Chief swished 96 threes and averaged 37.3 points per game in the season’s fifth month alone. Curry would set a pace of 30 or more points in 13 of the 15 games he played in April, breaking Kobe Bryant’s record for most 30-point games by a player 33 or older in a single month. Additionally, Curry’s scoring spree would occur in 11 games straight, breaking another one of Bryant’s records.

After making only five game appearances last season due to a broken hand, Curry has made this season one of the most phenomenal of his career. His closing season presentation would only follow suit.

The two-time NBA MVP’s high-spirited 46-point performance against the Grizzlies would punch the Warriors in as 8th seed in the Western Conference, pushing his team closer and closer to a potential playoff run. Curry would also serve up nine assists, seven rebounds, a steal and a block to add a little extra flavor to the winning meal. I mean, they do say Sunday spreads are the best!

After his spectacular season, many believe Steph has earned a third MVP title, despite the Warriors 39-33 record.

Among those is Los Angeles Laker Lebron James, who said in a post-game interview Sunday, “We get caught up in the record sometimes instead of just saying, ‘who had the best season that year?’ And Steph has had, in my opinion, the best season all year. Obviously, I don’t think Steph is going to get [the MVP]. That’s another conversation. But in my eyes, he’s played the best basketball all year round.”
