Rams Add Weddle Out Of Retirement Ahead Of Playoffs

The Los Angeles Rams had to answer a sudden hole in their lineup following the season-ending injury of Jordan Fuller. To answer the vacancy the Rams bring in a familiar face in Safety Eric Weddle.

Weddle retired following the 2019 season where he started all 16 games for Los Angeles. He also served as the team’s captain and was their signal caller that season. This makes him an excellent fill in for their downed signal caller in Fuller.

Excitement for Weddle’s return has already been shared by Rams teammates, including Jordan Ramsey.

Eric Weddle is a six-time Pro Bowler, and two-time All-Pro. For his career Weddle intercepted 29 passes, in which he returned four for a touchdown, forced 8 fumbles, recovered 7 fumbles, and had 9.5 sacks in his thirteen-year career.

The Rams are also dealing with injuries to Taylor Rapp and Darious Williams. To make up for the injuries the team added two other free agents ahead of their postseason game. Defensive backs Blake Countess and Sharrod Neasman join their practice squad and Jake Gervase joins their active roster.

Los Angeles hopes these additions can fill in for their injured starters and make an impact in their postseason game against their division rival Arizona Cardinals.
