Firebirds Soar to the Top of CAHL Standings

Scottsdale, Arizona – In a surprising twist, the Firebirds, a talented team of former ASU club hockey players, have soared to the top of the Coyotes Adult Hockey League (CAHL) standings. With a blend of skill, unwavering grit, and camaraderie, these seasoned beer league veterans have taken the league by storm, earning the coveted first-place position.

The decisive game that put the Firebirds ahead in the standings was a late-night battle against Larry’s Cocktails, who had been tied for the top spot. In a show of teamwork and determination, the Firebirds put on a clinic that left fans and opponents alike astounded – eventually wining the game 9-3.

Leading the charge on offense is Jett Larson, whose 8 goals and 21 points in just 11 games pale in comparison to the rest of the league, but his teammates remain moderately proud of. Ethan Miller and Connor Dineen have also been pivotal contributors, each tallying 8 goals of their own.

A noteworthy player to watch is Jake Gealy, who’s making waves with his 7 goals and one (1) assist. The team eagerly anticipates Gealy’s assault on the CAHL record books as he aims for the highest goal-to-assist ratio in recorded history.

The backbone of the Firebirds is their outstanding goaltending. Nathan Severtson, the team’s primary goalie, leads the league in save percentage, making him a vital part of their success. Bronson Moore stepped up in the last game, displaying remarkable skills in net and helping secure the win that catapulted them into first place.

Amidst the triumph, Moore managed to add some comic relief by contributing the primary assist on Larry’s Cocktails’ final goal. A number of spectators could hear the goaltender-turned-bartender shouting obscenities at his team after the game. Something along the lines of “sandbagger.” No one heard him though.

In a league where penalty minutes can often pile up, the Firebirds have long been expected to lead the league in the statistic. In a surprising twist, the team has showcased an impressive display of sportsmanship, tallying a remarkably low 29 penalty minutes in 13 games. If they are to once again lead the league in this area, they have a lot of ground to make up.

With their ascent, the Firebirds continue to prove that Tait Green’s astute guidance has made a lasting impact on hockey in Arizona. His legacy will live on indefinitely through the Firebirds -Couldn’t even write that part without wanting to throw up-

The Firebirds run of dominance will continue on Tuesday, July 18th @8:40 against the Warriors.
