After having their season being postponed, Ohio State football is finally back. Ohio State comes into the season ranked fifth in AP Top 25. The Buckeyes are the favorite in the BIG Ten and have high hopes to get back in the College Football Playoff. Ryan Day, in his second season as head coach, will be looking to have another great season and prove himself as the next long-term coach at Ohio State.
Ohio State will be playing a BIG Ten conference only schedule in 2020. The Buckeye’s schedule starts out tough and ends tough. Their first two games will be against Nebraska at home and then on the road against eighth-ranked Penn State. Their schedule then ends with two home games against Michigan St. and rival Michigan.
Junior Justin Fields, will be leading the offense at quarterback after having an outstanding first year at Ohio State. The Buckeyes are loaded with talent on offense. Fields will have plenty of weapons to get the ball to. Especially at wide receiver. Junior Chris Olave, sophmore Garrett Wilson, and true freshman Julian Fleming are the top three receivers for the Buckeyes. It will likely be the last season for Justin Fields before he turns pro. Fields will have tons of motivation. As Justin Fields has a great chance to win the Heisman Trophy, raise his draft stock, and lead Ohio State to a National Championship.
On defense, the Buckeyes will be led by Senior Shaun Wade. After opting out of the 2020 season due to the uncertainty if the BIG Ten would be having a season. Wade has opted back in and Buckeye fans are excited to watch Wade shut down opposing offenses this year. Sophomore Zach Harrison is poised to have a breakout season. Harrison has the chance to be the next superstar defensive end to come out of Ohio State.
This Saturday at Noon (ET) in Columbus, Ohio State will be taking on Nebraska. On paper it should be an easy start for Ohio State. As the Buckeyes are favored by twenty-seven points. However, it’s the first game of season for the Buckeyes. Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers are highly motivated to shock the college football world. Frost is looking to get Nebraska back to being a top tier college football program.
