Can’t Hardly Wait… For the Yankees – Mets Series

NEW YORK – The series between the Yankees and Mets has been postponed until further notice, due to a sequence of positive COVID-19 results.

Two positive test results have been confirmed for the Mets; one player and one staff member, which prompted the postponement of the Mets – Marlins game, on Thursday. And in order to ensure caution and safety for the remaining members of the Mets, they’ve decided to postpone their series with the Yankees, as well. This will be the MLB’s 36th postponed game of the season, due to positive results within the Cardinals, Marlins, Mets, Phillies, and Reds.

While we here at Talking Points Sports wish the teams, staff members, and families of these individuals well, I can’t help but notice that the feeling of seeing these games be postponed is familiar…

Have you ever waited in line at the movie theater for the latest blockbuster movie, on opening night, and when you arrive at the ticket stand – the teller informs you that the movie you came to see has sold out? Covid-19 has led to a lot of disappointing feelings like that.

Baseball truly is America’s favorite pastime, and without the season, it would feel like the movie theater closed for good, and we’d never be able to catch the film we were looking forward to seeing. So, instead of being overwhelmingly disappointed that COVID-19 has taken away so many things that we love this year, we should consider ourselves lucky that the baseball season has continued in any capacity. Baseball and it’s fans can wait for all the people who are suffering from the virus, as long as it ensures they get a quick and safe recovery!
