Mets GM Zack Scott Arrested for Drunk Driving

If you thought things couldn’t get worse for the Mets, think again.

Though they’ve won four in a row, this week has been marred by controversy. First it was the thumbs down drama, now it’s their General Manager.

Yesterday morning at 4:17 AM, Zack Scott was found sleeping in his car in White Plains, NY by local police, according to the New York Post. He was subsequently arrested and received DWI charges.

Scott refused a breathalyzer, and also declined to give blood, though he did take a field sobriety test. Not surprisingly, he failed.

The Mets released the following statement:

“We were surprised and deeply disappointed to learn this morning about an alleged DUI involving Zack Scott. We take this matter very seriously. Zack will not be traveling with the team for our upcoming road trip while we learn more and determine next steps.”

Scott has been released and is due for court on Thursday.

The Mets just seem to have a way with controversy. Wherever they go, chaos follows. They can’t catch a break. This just sums up their second-half implosion.

You can bet that owner Steve Cohen won’t take this lightly. After all, when news broke of former GM Jared Porter sending inappropriate texts and photos to a female journalist, Cohen literally announced his firing over Twitter. He also called out the Mets hitters for their poor performance over Twitter. The future doesn’t exactly look bright for Scott.

If Scott is ultimately dismissed, it’ll mark the second time in less than a year that the Mets have had to fire a general manager. We don’t know if they’ll go that route, but given Cohen’s recent track record, it seems very possible.

Mets gonna Met.
