Steph Curry Leads Warriors to Dub Over #1 Jazz on His 33rd Birthday

Steph would drop 32 on his big day and with teammate Andrew Wiggins combined for 60 at Chase Center. Golden State would defeat Utah in a 131-119 victory in the Bay, only their second time back on their home court in the past 24 days. As the Jazz are currently leading the league with a Top 5 Offense and Defense, this birthday win no doubt tasted sweet. And as the Warriors had been experiencing a four-game win drought… even sweeter.

Three of the four losses had been offered by the Lakers, the Suns, and the Clippers, who are all ranked Top 5 in the Western Conference. This tough schedule paired with a still missing Klay Thompson, due to his season-ending Achilles injury, had cooked up a season-worst for the blue and yellow.

Golden State needed a little boost, but they probably hadn’t expected that boost to come from a high-spirited eight, five, and two-year-old!

Ahead of the game, Steph shared on his Instagram the b-day surprise he received from his children. It was a surprise Curry had to work for as his gift came at the end of a kid-designed scavenger hunt.

His daughter Riley could even be heard in the video saying, “You gotta put that brain to thinking!” Curry’s final gift would come in the form of custom Curry Flow 8’s decked out in bright pink color, completed with a vivid blue accent. Curry’s new 8’s offering a bit of an 80s feel.

Steph would sport his new kicks in the matchup against the Jazz, and kind of hard not to think they sent a little luck the PG’s way.

The two-time MVP would have six 3-pointers accompanied by nine assists. Draymond Green would come in just as hot, having his 26th career triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists with an addition of four sweet steals. The Warriors would carry the lead for the majority of the game, even at times by double figures.

Utah would indeed put up a fight as Rudy Gobert would rack in 24 points for his team along with a career-high of 28 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell would offer his own 24, while veteran Mike Conley put up 23 and Jordan Clarkson 21.

This was all simply not enough as Golden State offered Utah no solace, making them the league’s last team to reach double-digit losses. With high energy on both sides of the court, the three-time Champions forced even four double-digit scorers to bow their heads.

With a new pair of his own Curry kicks (quite literally by the PG’s label: Curry Brand) and a solid win over the NBA’s #1 ranked team on his 33rd birthday, #30 certainly had a lot to smile about.
