SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – According to reports from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Tuesday, the Utah Jazz are expected to sign veteran forward Ersan Ilyasova. The signing will become official once Ilyasova clears the leagues COVID protocols.
The free agent veteran forward has agreed to a veteran minimum deal for the remainder of the season. Ersan Ilyasova fills the recent vacancy left after the Jazz waived guard Shaq Harrison at the end of February. When Harrison was released the Jazz were required to add another player to their roster within two weeks, and Ilyasova fills that void.
Ersan Ilyasova brings another sharpshooter to the Jazz roster. The forward adds depth to the already deep Utah lineup. It is not clear how he will fit into the rotation along with Bojan Bogdanovic and Georges Niang.
A career 44 percent field goal shooter and 37 percent from behind the arc Ilyasova finished last season with the Bucks averaged 10.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. He has also played in 51 career playoff games and adds some postseason experience to the Jazz roster.
In a year that the Utah Jazz have already been shooting lights out from three the addition of Ersan Ilyasova could prove even more valuable as referenced in the thread below.
The Turkish Forward is 33-years-old is a twelve year NBA veteran and brings some added length, depth, and the ability to stretch the floor for Jazz bigs Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors. Ilyasova will have to battle it out for playing time in an already deep lineup.
How the Jazz and Quin Snyder use Ilyasova will be interesting as the second half of the season comes up, but one thing for sure the forward fits in with the Jazz sharpshooting roster.
