LA Rams: A Frustrating and Ugly Win

Getty Images

This was a frustrating game leaving Rams fans wondering when their high-octane offense would ignite. LA fans at home were hoping to savor a victory against a Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore football team. It wasn’t a pretty win in Baltimore this morning, but they got the job done when needed. Once the LA defense stopped fighting each other in the huddle and transferred that energy towards the Baltimore offense, the Ravens couldn’t stop them.

Rams fans were treated to a commendable performance by their defense who worked around the clock to maintain a close game and keep pace with the bevy of turnovers served up by the offense.

Cooper Kupp played heroically, closing in as this year’s wide-receiver triple crown winner,  pulling the Rams within two points of the Ravens in the fourth quarter. Kupp leads the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns this season. Last month he became the first to to hit 100 catches in the 2021 season. It’s exciting to see that he has support in the form of Odell Beckham Jr, who made several crucial receptions today. He has become a good complement to the LA offense, giving Matthew Stafford a much needed alternative threat to the often double-covered Cooper Kupp. While they started slow, they got their act together in the 4th quarter. Sony Michel’s 1yd run in the 4th quarter brought them within two points. Odell Beckham Jr.’s 7 Yd pass from Matthew Stafford gave them the lead for the first time with 57 seconds left in the game.

This was a frustrating game of two very good teams, and the better team prevailed. The Rams remain a serious contender with the capability to make it deep into the playoffs. They return home to Los Angeles to face the 49ers in seven days.
