Last week we had some barn burners, some shootouts, and some really bad quarterback play. LA Rams won a thriller in OT but did not cover the -3.5 spread they gave, that half a point will either make you or break you. The Ravens stun the Chiefs for Lamar’s first win over Kansas City and just like I thought neither team can play a lick of defense and that over was a mortal lock. Minnesota still doesn’t have a reliable kicker as they missed the game winning field goal with no time on the clock to lose by one but cover -4.5. Andy Dalton escaped tearing his ACL but Justin Fields did not look all that sharp coming off the bench but seals a three point win. Zach Wilson must be seeing the same ghost in Met Life that Sam Darnold was seeing when he played for the Jets against New England because he tossed four interceptions and lost 25-6. Uconn scored a garbage time touchdown against Army for a backdoor cover of -34, however, still losing 52-13.
Overall Record: 4-9
5. Carolina Panthers (-8) vs Houston Texans:
Carolina have started out hot with their new quarterback in charge. Only thing hotter on their team besides the offense is the defense. They are only allowing 10.5 points per game in the first two weeks. With Tyrod Taylor out on injured reserve the Texans are going with Davis Mills. Now I cannot imagine this will be a close Thursday night game. The Texans are playing for the first overall pick in next year’s draft.
My Pick: Carolina Panthers (-8)
4. Arizona Cardinals (-7) vs Jacksonville Jaguars:
Arizona continues to impress and put the league on notice that they are legit contenders. Their offense continues to roll, their defense did take a small step back last week, and Kyler Murray makes his push for MVP. Right now Mac Jones looks like the more complete NFL quarterback taken in this year’s draft, something Jaguars fans don’t want to hear. Lawrence is completing 50% of his throws, has 450 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and five interceptions in the first two weeks. With the Cardinals defense poised to bounce back this Sunday will be the same as the last two weeks.
My Pick: Arizona Cardinals (-7)
3. Washington Football Team vs Buffalo Bills (-7.5):
What a game this has the potential to be. Buffalo came off a trouncing against the Miami Dolphins where their defense pitched a shutout. The Football Team won a wild Thursday Night game versus the New York Giants. Taylor Heinicke has proven to be a legitimate starter in the NFL and with his weapons he won’t slow down. Josh Allen could possibly eat in this game, however the over/under is set at 45 which seems low for these two teams. The weather is supposed to be 39 with 4 mph winds.
My Pick: Washington Football Team (+310) & Over 45
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1.5) vs Los Angeles Rams:
What does Vegas know that we don’t? The line opened at Rams -1 and has since jumped to Tampa Bay -1.5. Antonio Brown has been placed on the Covid-19 list but he was only targeted four times last week which means Mike Evens will likely go off another week. Matthew Stafford has been a godsend for the Rams as he continues to hookup with Cooper Kupp and their running backs continue to improve. There’s something fishy about this spread that I don’t like but the game being indoors bodes well for over betters.
My Pick: Over 55.5
1. Green Bay Packers vs San Francisco 49ers (-3.5):
Aaron Rogers and company did not need to spell out R-E-L-A-X after week one to the media despite everyone and their mother claiming he was washed and done for. Huge bounce back win versus the lowly Lions 35-17. San Fran barely escaped a 17-11 barn burner against the Eagles. The Niners getting a field goal and a half at home doesn’t tickle my fancy. They can’t move the ball effectively, however, the Packers defense struggled mightily week one and Goff moved the ball well in the first half.
