Pigskin Pick ‘Em: NFL Week 8

Last week I took one look at the NFL board and said “nope”.  There was nothing that jumped out to me, except the Patriots over the Jets, but other than that last week’s NFL schedule was ugly.  With the combination of bye weeks and injury riddled teams no game was worth putting a dollar on.  This week we are looking much better starting with the Thursday night game, Packers vs Cardinals, normally these Thursday night games are barn burners but we are lucky this week.

Overall Record: 16-13

5. Cincinnati Bengals (-10.5) vs New York Jets:

Let’s just say it how it is, the New York Jets are terrible at the sport of football.  I feel bad because I personally like their head coach but he was put into a lose-lose situation.  Now with their second overall pick quarterback out, who really wasn’t playing all that well before the injury, the Jets have Mike White and they just traded for Joe Flacco.  Early reports are indicating that the Jets will start White this week.  The Bengals opened up this week at -3.5 and have since jumped to -10.5.  The first week of the season I said the Bengals would be bad and so far they are proving me wrong.  Unless the spread jumps to -14.5 by Sunday this should be an easy win.

My Pick: Bengals (-10.5)

4. Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills (-14):

Bad time to be a Dolphins fan.  Just when you think you found your quarterback in Tua now the media are suggesting trading for Watson.  They sit at 1-6 on the season and the college quarterback class coming into the draft this upcoming year does not look too promising.  The Bills are coming off a bye week and are looking to rebound after their loss to the Titans.  I see nothing but a blowout happening.

My Pick: Buffalo Bills (-14)

3. Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts (-1.5):

The Titans look poised to make a run at the playoffs and all they have to do is win their division and not worry about traveling for a wild card game.  Their division has the Jaguars (1-5), the Texans (1-6), and the Colts (3-4).  Shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish that feat.  The COlts being favored is interesting here knowing the Titans are the better team.  I don’t think the Colts will have a solution for king Henry.  He might score three touchdowns this Sunday.

My Pick: Tennessee Titans (+110)

2. Las Angeles Rams (-14.5) vs Houston Texans:

I can’t see any other outcome happening in this game besides the Rams blowing the doors off this team and the starters being out of the game by the fourth quarter.  The Texans traded away running back Mark Ingram to the Saints which made not only the fan base upset but also the players.  Look for touchdown prop bets in this game, that is really the only way anyone will watch it.

My Pick: LA Rams (-14.5)

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5.5) vs New Orleans Saints:

Tampa Bay looks to make it five wins in a row this Sunday as they go into New Orleans.  The Saints are rolling right now winning two in a row themselves.  Both teams are subpar against the spread but for 5.5 points I truly believe the Bucs can win by at least six points.  I’ll call this the mortal lock of the week.  The Bucs defense will be all over Jameis Winston.  Look for at least two interceptions by Winston on Sunday.

My Pick: Tampa Bay (-5.5)
