Rams Flounder in Santa Clara

via USA TODAY Sports

The Rams floundered in another ugly and embarrassing loss at Levi’s Stadium in Odell Beckham Jr.’s and Von Miller’s team debut. The 49ers dominated this catastrophe from the get-go and catastrophe describes the Rams play mildly. With an added Odell Beckham Jr. to the offensive roster, the rams still failed to put more than 10 points on the board. Tonight’s game was what any Rams fan least expected; a complete and utter debacle. This game was so bad I needed to consult my thesaurus to come up with synonyms for disaster.

Early in the second quarter a Tyler Higbee catch brought the Rams within 7 points, but that is the closest they were the entire game. More than any game since 2019, the Rams had five drops throughout the night. Frankly, I’ve seen better use of hands on a soccer field. They couldn’t catch a break, or a ball. The words, “out of characteristic” were heard throughout the night. Nothing went as planned. Just like Coach McVay said, this was not the fault of any one player, but a combined effort. Fans witnessed a pattern from Stafford from last week. He threw two interceptions in the first half; one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Rams had possession of the ball for less than 21 minutes; an all time low for all games under Coach McVay.

This was Sean McVay’s 5th straight loss to 49ers Head Coach, Kyle Shanahan. With a bye week in Week 11 the Rams have extra time to try to get back on track and adapt to an offense without Robert Woods who suffered a season-shattering knee injury in practice Friday. This will also give Odell time to learn the playbook. The Rams have till the 28th when they take the field at Green Bay to hit their stride again.
