After losing in an embarrassing shut out on Saturday to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Tampa Bay Lightning came back with fire under their skates, winning back-to-back games.

The Lightning won in a shutout victory against the Hurricanes after a 4-2 win on Tuesday. The Bolts showed that they have adaptive abilities to tackle even the most menacing of opponents. The win was a shared success with goals scored by Victor Hedman, Ondřej Palát, Steven Stamkos, and Alex Killorn. Andrei Vasilevskiy dominated in the net with a .944 save percentage, only giving up 2 goals against 36 shots.

In tonight’s shutout game, we saw a goal scored by Lightning newcomer but seasoned veteran Blake Coleman, proving that the high-profile and costly trade in 2020 might have been worth the first round pick the Lightning gave up. We also saw rookie Ross Colton not only play his first game on big-league ice but also score his first goal. Additionally, a goal was scored by Barclay Goodrow, bringing in a 3 point shutout against Hurricanes and leaving the Lightning tied with Carolina for 2nd place in the Central division.

Vasilevsky gave another star performance saving 25 shots on goal. The Lightning are showing that their defense will not relent

This series has been nothing less than exhilarating as two monster teams battle it out for second place. There is still a lot of hockey to be played in 2021, but we are seeing a clearer picture of how the Bolts will come together in 2021. Although offense has been spotty with a few blunders early in the series, the Bolts have shown that their defense is a force to be reckoned with that even category 5 force winds can’t stop. With one game left in the series, things are heating up in the Central division.
