Injury Update for Ottawa Prospect Tim Stuetzle

Tim Stuetzle

On Tuesday, the Ottawa Senators announced in a press release that newly drafted forward Tim Stuetzle will need to undergo surgery for an injury he sustained at practice with Addler Mannheim on Monday.

“In consultation with doctors in Germany and with our own medical staff, it has been determined that Tim requires a surgical procedure to stabilize a fracture,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “The procedure is scheduled to take place in Germany later this week and has an expected recovery time of six to eight weeks. Our medical staff will remain in regular contact with Tim and his doctors as he begins his recovery through to the point that he is medically cleared.”

Stuetzle was drafted by the Senators 3rd overall in the 2020 NHL draft. The German native was rated first among all European prospects. In the 2019-2020 season, he played in 41 out of 52 games for Mannheim in the highest league in Germany (Deutsche Eishockey Liga). While being the youngest full-time player in DEL, he registered seven goals, 27 assists, and 34 points.
