Fury vs. Joshua Could Be Very Real Very Soon

While 2020 was a difficult time for sports, the sport of boxing did not fail to deliver some big heavyweight bouts. Some of the biggest fights were Fury vs. Wilder II, Povetkin vs. Whyte, and Joshua vs. Pulev. The heavyweight division has always been known for powerful knockouts and excellent finishers, and that is what the fans received. 2021 could bring more of the same, as the negotiations for a fight between heavyweight kings Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are already underway.

A fight between these two boxing greats has been talked about for some time. For years Fury, Joshua, and Wilder have been the big three of the heavyweight division. However, now that Fury has taken down Wilder, it’s time for the best in the business to square off. Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum seems to be extremely dedicated to making that happen.
Since Fury signed and multi-year deal with the boxing promotion Top Rank, Arum has backed Fury 100% and has delivered on getting Fury his big fights. When speaking to Sky Sport News, Arum did not give a set date for the fight but did show a lot of optimism by saying, “we hope to have a signed document within the next couple of weeks.”

A fight between Fury and Joshua would certainly be worthy of the title “mega fight.” Both fighters have been considered at the top of their division for some time now and have featured wins over tough opponents, such as heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko. While it is true that Anthony Joshua has not been the same offensive force he used to be since his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr., his KO win against Kubrat Pulev showed everyone that he was still capable of raw aggression. The contrast in styles combined with the promise of divisional unification makes this fight a must-have for 2021.
