Nathan Chen has won the last three National Championships and has also won the last two World Championships. He is a phenomenal skater that takes his time going into his jumps so that he lands all of his jumps with ease. The commentators had nothing to say during the duration of the performance because there was nothing to criticize. Everything he did was done so beautifully, with grace and passion for the sport. He is a hard worker and a figure skater that is very dedicated to the sport.
Chen is very athletic and has grace with every movement he does. His hand and arm coordination throughout every position he extends is done with such grace. The most beautiful thing about his choreography is that his hand positions are so delicate, and his head turns the slightest in the direction of his arms, in order to make the whole program look elegant and effortless. His joy for skating is clear to everyone with each performance.
All of the jump passes in his program look effortless for him to accomplish. He opens with a quad flip that had great height, his air position was extremely tight and straight, leaving him with a clean jump. His next element is a triple axel that he does into a spread eagle, which all looked seamless. His first spin is up next, a camel position combination, in which he has great speed and holds every position for as many rotations as he needs in order to receive a level 4 and extra points. His final jump in the short program is a quad toe, triple toe combination, followed by an outstanding level 4 step sequence that had the audience clapping the entire time. His final spin is a level 4 flying sit spin that had tons of energy and power. Chen’s skating is so enjoyable to watch because of how easy figure skating looks when he completes all of his elements. He makes the sport look effortless when in reality it takes a lot of time and dedication in order to be as amazing as this figure skater. He is a brilliant skater that always comes out to give an amazing performance to the judges and audience. He is there to do nothing short of impress everyone.
